Alan Emery on a bumper Harvest
1955 was a lovely year. There were no problems harvesting at all, hardly any rain fell and we only had an old combine harvester then that was a bagging combine and it was obviously not going to cope with that lot so we cut some with a binder, bind and stook the old fashioned way and we had all of this corn.
Happily it had been such a dry year we filled up the calf pens, we filled up barns, we filled up everywhere and really it was an absolute bonanza.
