Born in St Mary’s Hospital Newport, but lived all his life in Thorley. Mike’s only link to farming when very young was his maternal grandfather who was a shepherd. Mike started helping out on farms at the age of 10, and by the time he was 19 had worked out he preferred machines to animals and spent the next 46 years tractor driving, doing maintenance, combine driving at Thorley Manor Farm.
